Abstract
Smoking is associated with the development of various diseases, including infections, chronic diseases, and autoimmune disorders, many of which are caused by alterations in the immune system, leading to serious consequences for smokers. This article aims to analyze the impact of smoking on the human immune system, such as alterations in immune cells and the development of severe conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The methodology used was a review of the scientific literature, confirming the correlation between smoking and the impairment of the immune system, emphasizing the need for preventive strategies.
