Abstract
This study examines the connection between the consumption of sugary drinks, such as Coca-Cola, and the harmful effects of sugar, with an emphasis on the health consequences for children, particularly related to childhood obesity. By analyzing data from the United States and Brazil, the research highlights how the high consumption of sugary foods and drinks is related to the increase in obesity among children, a growing challenge in both countries. In the United States, childhood obesity represents a serious public health problem, with high prevalence rates, while in Brazil, despite being a more recent issue, there has also been considerable progress in cases of childhood obesity, largely due to the consumption of ultra-processed foods and sugary drinks
