Abstract

The types of coatings used in storage tanks cover a wide range of products. The objective of this study was to identify the interaction between coating and aromatic products in relation to the color test of the washing acid. The preparation of test specimens with different batches of coating was adopted as a way to simulate contact with aromatic products, to determine their color. The results demonstrated the occurrence of color in the aromatics, caused by the coating formulation. Therefore, the coating must be formulated appropriately, in compliance with Standard N-2912, in order to prevent the occurrence of this problem.
