Abstract
SAE 1045 steel has several applications and is commonly used in industry, given the fact that it presents low cost, high mechanical strength and ductility. This work consisted of studying the corrosion resistance in samples of SAE 1045 steel using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. From the experimental results it is possible to observe the interaction between the electrolyte and the surface of the metal immersed in a 0.5 M chloride solution. Therefore, as expected, the material proved to be resistant to electrochemical corrosion, presenting high values of polarization resistance.
