Abstract
Pressure gauges are devices used to measure pressure at points in a system. The U-tube micromanometer with reservoirs, due to its good accuracy, is used to calibrate pressure gauges such as electronic ones. The motivation to study this topic can be increased by using mathematical programs used in engineering. The present work aimed to calculate the pressure difference between two points observed in the differential U-tube micromanometer for two liquids, using a computational tool. The program was developed using the Command Window and App Designer in MATLAB. The fixed data were obtained through an experimental unit of the Laboratory of Unit Operations of the Santa Cecília University, Santos-SP. The calculation of the pressure variation was performed using the MATLAB program, where the dimensioning was equally used in all situations worked. The only variable used was the temperature. The program performed simultaneous calculations that allowed the pressure difference to be determined with the variation of certain values such as the specific mass ρ (in kg/m³) and the specific weight γ (in N/m³), following intervals of 20 ºC in each estimated value.
