Abstract

Considering the importance of preserving the coastal environment, this study aimed to qualitatively characterize solid waste on the beaches of Barra do Una and Caramborê RDS - Barra do Una Peruíbe- São Paulo. Thirty-four items of different types of waste were found in the stretches of the beaches studied, 2690 units of biotic waste, and 505 units of abiotic waste. Of the total items, 60% were abiotic. It was observed that the relationship between proximity to settlement is inverse to the amount of abiotic waste found.
