An analysis of the applicability of Environmental Education in ecotourism activities Edson Elias

Main Article Content

Abstract

Ecotourism is a segment of tourism that uses natural and cultural heritage in a sustainable way, encourages conservation and seeks to create a new environmental awareness through the interpretation of the environment. However, for this to actually happen, environmental education must be applied effectively. This article was developed through exploratory research and bibliographic reviews of scientific works that deal with the subject in question with the aim of comparing ecotourism activities with the applicability of environmental education to participants in this segment, according to the relevant legislation and government recommendations. It is concluded from the selected works that the information and guidelines on environmental education applied to ecotourists do not fully meet legal concepts, being limited to geophysical characterization and safety instructions for the activities. It is necessary to take better advantage of this moment to address this topic in a more incisive and timely manner, as this may be an audience with great potential as multipliers and environmental educators.
