Abstract
Fungal diseases in fish and their eggs occur frequently in intensive systems. Currently, chemical products not permitted for aquaculture are used for treatment. The objective was to evaluate the fungicidal effect of potassium permanganate on the growth and development of Aphanomyces sp. hyphae in culture medium. The isolation was performed from Danio rerio egg samples. After isolation, potassium permanganate was added to the YPSS/4 culture medium and, after cooling, a 6 mm inoculum with mycelium was inserted into plates. The plates were kept in a biological incubator at 22ºC for 96 hours and growth was assessed every 24 hours in centimeters. The EC50 was calculated by the Spearman Karber program for the definitive test of 164.62 mg.L-1 and MIC of 337.5 mg.L-1.
