Abstract

The use of rainwater is an inexpensive alternative to mitigate the consumption of drinking water for less noble purposes. However, its use requires an analysis of its quality to avoid contamination. This work aims to analyze the quality of rainwater collected directly from the atmosphere and after contact with the roofing at a point in the Orquidário de Santos, based on legislation Conama 357/05 for waters of class 3 and ABNT 15.527 / 07. The results obtained in the analysis of pH, turbidity, color, thermotolerant coliforms were below that established by Conama and ABNT in the direct rain collection. On the other hand, the samples after the contact with the roofing had, and some samples had a significant worsening, needing to pass through a filtration system before its use, for less noble purposes.
