Abstract
Bauhinia forficata Link. (Caesalpinioideae) is a native tree of the Atlantic forest, which is popularly known as “Pata-de-Vaca”, “Unha-de-Vaca”, “Casco-de-Vaca”. Bauhinia forficata is widely used in brazilian folk medicine for the treatment of Diabetes mellitus, and phytochemical works showed that this plant is a source of numerous compounds including the flavonoids. Nowadays, several works related the antiulcerogenic activity of the flavonoids compounds. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible antiulcerogenic activity of the Aquous extract obtained from Bauhinia forficata Link. leaves in models of induction gastric ulcers in rats and mice, it obtained excellent results (anti-secretor and gastric protector activity) . A new proposal of clinical therapy for gastric ulcers.
