Abstract

Brazil is a country with great coastal extension which requires an efficient management by the public power representing a big challenge. For this reason, in the State of São Paulo, the State Coastal Management Plan was created subdividing the coastal zone into four sectors, particularly the North Coast, where the municipality of Caraguatatuba is located. The comparative analysis of ecological-economic zoning (EEZ) published in the years 2004 and 2017 was carried out during the course Introduction to Integrated Coastal Management of the Graduate Program in Environmental Auditing. We concluded that the changes were due to the economic activities in expansion: duplication of the Tamoios Highway, the port activities in São Sebastião and the increase of industrial activity.
