Abstract
This research aims to bring to the discussion the procedures performed in the venipuncture of wild animals of the Jabuti-piranga (Geochelone carbonaria) species, eliminating the hypothesis of errors in the collection of the biological sample, using the external jugular puncture method for the scientific demonstration and results, which may undergo significant changes at the moment of puncture by relevant factors such as delayed peripheral puncture, time of homogenization and confection of the blood smear of the reptile, causing errors of platelet evaluations confusing them with diverse characteristics that can lead to controversial evaluations, such as coagulopathies.
