Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze the impacts arising from the transport of cargo in the port/city in the municipality of saints from the perspective of the population. Held an exploratory research at the port of Santos, with approaches the population santista. The survey approached, items such as the perception of conflict between the port and the city of Santos, the identification of impacts arising from the transport of loads in the relationship between city/port and about the prospect of a sustainable relationship between the city and the port with the heavy vehicles by he demanded. When analyzing the data, it was possible to affirm that for 91% of the interviewees, there is a clear perception of ide conflict between the city and the operations of its harbor, 100% of the population interviewed to realize impacts caused by the conflict city/port divided between transiting, loss of air quality, loss of urban mobility, degradation of public roads and pollution, 89% of them still consider to be impossible to envision a sustainable future for both, Which led us to conclude that the appearance of greatest relevance to the degree of unbelief in a harmonious future between port and city lies in the perception of impacts the quality of life of citizens arising out of the operations of road cargo transportation in increasingly larger scales, because the port is essential to the development and economic support of the city, The region and even the country making distant prospect of minimizing or containment of the volume of cargo and vehicles arriving and leaving him all day.
