Abstract
The process of urbanization brought several negative consequences triggered by changes in land use and occupation and hydrological cycle over the years. The city of Guarujá - SP had its area studied in order to enable the generation of an isohyetal map and the calculation of the annual weighted average of precipitation of the city, through the Method of Thiessen Polygons, from the data of the local pluviometric posts. This methodology, used together with the current available technologies, allows the study to be carried out in a remote and viable way, contributing with new information and demonstrating how geoprocessing, aligned with the multiplatform of the geoprocessing system (GIS) of QGIS software, is an indispensable tool for studies of area characterization and scenario generation with current data.
