Abstract
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that affects social, family and life, the ability to think and feel emotions, its cause is unknown, and studies show that the disorder occurs from excessive dopaminergic activity cerebral region. Pharmacological treatment is performed with antipsychotics and neuroleptics, which should be monitored in the treatment of the patient. The purpose of this review is to describe the severity of the disorder and its appearance in adherence to pharmacological treatment, through textual analysis of scientific articles and books published. The result of the analysis considers that the onset of the disease occurs through internal and external factors, and its adherence to treatment is difficult for effective treatment.
