Abstract
: Snooks are important species for sport fishing along the Brazilian coast. Research that includes local knowledge (ethnoecology) complement biological data and has been instrumental in the conservation of snooks. The aim of the present study was to analyze aspects of the reproduction of snooks based on local ecological knowledge of sport fishermen from Barra do Una Sustainable Development Reserve (Peruíbe / SP). Data were collected through interviews and the most representative information was compared with the scientific literature. The details were in relation to the place and breeding seasons, being part of this knowledge in agreement with the scientific literature.
