Correlation Between Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance in SMAW Weld Bead Marcelo Yamaguti, Emmanuelle Sá Freitas

Abstract
DH 36 steel is widely used in shipbuilding, and the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process is widely applied for welding components and structures, which will be subjected to seawater and subjected to corrosion processes. Therefore, the analysis of corrosion kinetics in a specimen made of ASTM 131 DH 36 high-tensile steel welded by the manual SMAW process was performed from electrochemical impedance tests in the base metal, thermally affected zone and weld bead regions. . Thus a comparative analysis of nyquist curves shows that the thermally affected region is more susceptible to electrochemical corrosion.
