Abstract

Temperature measurement in combustion processes is a challenge in engineering applications. In recent years, the use of different types of biomass solid waste for power generation has reached worldwide importance. In Brazil, the solid biomass residue that is most used in the power plants is sugarcane bagasse. In this work experimental tests were performed in a combustion chamber to estimate the flame temperature in the combustion of sugarcane bagasse. A spectrometer in the visible light range was used. Flame spectra were obtained during the combustion of bagasse samples and the radiation intensities as a function of wavelength was calculated. The temperature was calculated using the two-color method. Measurements show temperatures in the flame reaction zone in the range of 1500 K to 1600K.
