Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of oral health of professional soccer athletes, their incidence of orofacial trauma and correlate with data from the medical department of the club. The population was composed of 31 male professional soccer players. Questionnaires structured on general and oral health topics were delivered. Each athlete was classified according to the Sum Dental scale "Poor oral health indicator" and 87% of all athletes evaluated were affected by one or two or more oral diseases, of which 29.6% had recurrent muscle or joint injuries. The oral health condition of the examined group was classified as poor. This fact worries the general state of health of this athlete.
