Abstract

This research aims to show the effect of the martial art Taekwondo in the education and character development of children and teens. Also, their parents’ vision regarding the physical activity, the choice of the modality for their children and the relationship between their children and this activity. Thirty-two students/athletes ranging from eight to seventeen years old and their parents were researched. An open/closed questionnaire with ten questions was used for the students and thirty questions for the parents. It was observed that most athletes were taken by their parents and all of them agree with the health benefits and the obedience to the instructors. The great majority of parents also practiced sports during their childhood/adolescence. Discipline is essential. It was concluded the activity is great and should be recommended to others.
