Abstract

 The work aims to analyze the Machiavelli's main concepts, and how they explain the duty of the ruler. Through the new conception of virtue, one can understand the real value of fortune and how they understand the new concept of prudence, which is an instrument of maintenance of power indispensable to the ruler (the prince).
