Abstract
With the growing increase in the use of non-Newtonian fluids in the food, biochemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries, among others, there was a need to analyze the thermal exchange of this equipment, as it directly implies their efficiency and performance. The present work had as main objective to analyze the latest articles published on heat transfer to non-Newtonian fluids, using helical coils, aiming to compare the results obtained, giving a better technical understanding. It also added understandings to the graphs describing the Nusselt (Nu) numbers for the fluids under study, such as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and expressions for obtaining the Nu. It was found that the general heat transfer coefficient of non-Newtonian fluids is lower compared to Newtonian fluids for the same conditions caused due to higher viscosities of non-Newtonians.
