Overcrowding in Prisons and Measures to Fight the Contagion of the New Coronavirus Danilo Fernandes Marques

Abstract

 This article is limited to an analysis of the current situation of overcrowding in the Brazilian prison system and the means of coping with possible mass contamination by Covid-19. Thus, firstly, the study focuses on its objective of understanding the Brazilian prison system, its precariousness and overcrowding, later on it analyzes the disease, its high transmissibility, and how it presents a great challenge for the prison population. It also addresses some coping measures taken by Organs competent bodies.
