Abstract
In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of bilingual schools in large cities and metropolitan regions. This article sought to gather information on the increase in the supply of bilingual schools, and to discuss the recent approval of the National Guidelines for Plurilingual Education, through bibliographic studies by researchers in the area, websites and video conferences. This study presents new perspectives for education in a globalized world and during a time of pandemic. It is concluded that in the last few years there has been an increase in bilingual schools in large Brazilian cities, but little is known about the methodologies that these schools use to be called bilingual schools. In this sense, the approval of the National Guidelines for Multilingual Education is an advance, and it can be seen not only as a normative document, but as a manual, a guide to good practices in bilingual education.
