Abstract

The Itupararanga Reservoir is used for water supply and energy generation and is constantly subjected to anthropic impacts that alter the physical and chemical characteristics of the environment. This study aimed to evaluate spatial heterogeneity in the distribution of organic matter (OM) fractions and to investigate the areas with the highest organic sedimentation potential. The data were evaluated by static basic descriptive and geostatistical. It was concluded that the sediment is predominantly organic and that the depth directly interfered in the OM concentration. A distinct heterogeneity was observed regarding OM content and reservoir study zones. The results indicate that downstream-upstream is more subject to anthropic impacts.
