Abstract
Cadmium is a non-essential toxic and bioaccumulative oligoelement capable of provoking serious damage to aquatic biota. The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of publications, quote network and keywords by countries and institutions, summarizing the results in a cienciometric review. Data were obtained from the Web of Science database through searches ("Toxicity and Cadmium and Aquatic Organisms") and analyzed in the CiteSpace. 2671 publications and the results point out that China has a strong influence in this area of research and that the matter presents a growing volume of publications in recent years, and the most commonly used bodies to evaluate the toxicity of cadmium are vertebrates.
