Abstract

Bilingual education has grown in Brazil, although early bilingual literacy is still a controversial issue. The bilingual individual can use different languages to communicate, and their level of domain and fluency is different in each language used. This article sought to analyze the benefits and limitations of bilingual literacy during early childhood. As a methodology, bibliographical research was used. The results reveal that the positive aspects of the bilingual literacy process outweigh the possibly negative impacts.
