Abstract
The National Solid Waste Policy - PNRS was instituted in 2010 and stands out as one of the most relevant legislations, however, even so, there is a considerable increase in the environmental impacts on the country's biodiversity. The aim of this article was to demonstrate the representativeness of the enactment of the PNRS for the environmental education and minimizing environmental impacts in Brazil. The adopted methodology was exploratory, qualitative, using as a method, a bibliographical research, based on scientific articles, published between 2008 and 2016. The results allowed us to observe that more than a decade after the enactment of the PNRS, it is still it is possible to observe the neglect of the population, business and the government in its three spheres to promote environmental education.
