Vibration Analysis in Process Piping and the Use of Normative Guidelines in the Prevention of Fatigue Failure Associated with IVF: Case Study Jose Jefferson M. de Oliveira, Marcos Tadeu T. Pacheco

Main Article Content

Abstract

Excessive vibration problems in piping are the biggest cause for shutdown, fatigue failure, hydrocarbon leaks, fires and explosions in refineries, petrochemical plants, and oil platforms. Using specific guidelines for the analysis of vibrations in pipes, this article evaluates real data of vibration measurement in piping of a reciprocating compressor - where this type of failure occurred, confirming the importance of analyzing the risk of fatigue in piping due to flow-induced vibrations.
