Abstract

Abstract: Artisanal estuarine fishing is one of the main activities of the fishing community of the Barra do Una Sustainable Development Reserve (Peruíbe, SP). Thus, the present study aimed to assess in a preliminary way the economic viability of coastal marine fishing by the same fishermen. Through the monitoring of fisheries, the species and their weights were evaluated in relation to gross and net profit. A great range of profitability was verified, being necessary the adoption of a methodology that allows the adequate evaluation of the economic viability of this type of fishing in front of other activities developed by the local fishermen.
