Morphometry of Bivalves from the Mytilidae Family (d'Orbigny, 1842) from the Upper Limit of the Mesolitoral to the Lower Limit, on the Coast of Itanhaém-SP on a Rocky Beach Felipe Ferreira Lucas, Fabio Giordano

Abstract

Rocky shore is an intertidal region that harbors numerous species of different functional groups, including the species Mytilaster solisianus (d'Orbigny, 1842), a mussel that covers the rocks of the shores. Few works are done with the morphometry of shellfish, knowing that in the literature there are many limiting factors for growth such as abiotic and biotic factors. The objective was to test the hypothesis that bivalves of the species M. solisianus near the upper line of the intertidal are smaller (abiotic factors) and for bivalves of the same species that are in the region closer to the infralittoral are larger (biotic factors). For data analysis, an ANOVA analysis will be performed, using the R software. The present study is still under development.
