Abstract

Urbanization reduces native vegetation, making the soil impermeable and untreated sewage discharge affects ichthyofaunistic communities, changing their composition and trophic structure. Due to the historical process of land use in Vila da Barra do Una, it was necessary to create drainage channels for sewage and rainwater. Given the present regional context, this study conducted a spatial evaluation of the fish community across 8 aquatic systems. The Poecillidae and Gobiidae families exhibited the highest levels of abundance. The low values of compositional similarity and the outcomes of key diversity descriptors reveal that urban streams harbor spatially heterogeneous communities.
