Abstract
This article aims to study the expansion of the urban verticalization in the city of Santos and its socio-environmental consequences as a result of the permissible regulatory legislation. For the development of the theme, the focus is on the city of Santos, known as the most verticalized city in the country. The analisis made is a result of a plethrora of multidisciplinary scientific papers that studies the impacts that buildings cause on it's immediate environment, such as: pollution, diseases and heating; which directly affect the standards of a sustainable city.
