Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the role of women artisanal fishermen, analyzing the social determinations of health through women's living conditions and health, as well as the gender inequalities present in fishing activities. In this context, the study was carried out through descriptive research with a documental and bibliographic analysis method. The results show that most women support artisanal fishing, considered a secondary activity, being discriminated against and marginalized, becoming invisible to society. This social invisibility linked to the lack of resources and lack of knowledge of rights results in the illness of women who work in fishing activities.
