Abstract
According to the World Health Organization, about 17.5% of the world's population, totaling one in every six people in the world, face the problem of infertility. In 2011 the UN estimated that 70 million people in the world are autistic. Autism can be considered as one of the most frequent consequences of Fragile X Syndrome in boys, however, women carrying this genetic mutation tend to have premature failure of ovarian function, that is, a possible difficulty in getting pregnant or even infertility. So, would it be possible to say that autistic women face greater difficulty getting pregnant? This article aimed to question whether it would be possible to establish a counterpoint between the diagnoses of autism, Fragile X syndrome and infertility.
