Abstract
This is a experimental study, which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a proposed acupuncture treatment protocol in improving pain in patients with fibromyalgia. Ten women (35-57 years) were selected and assisted in Santos / SP, after consent from the Human Research Ethics Committee (CEPSH) of UNILUS under opinion number 2.573.920 (CAAE 85722518.5.0000.5436) . Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that causes diffuse pain throughout the body. Acupuncture is a technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine that consists of applying needles to points on the body. The protocol developed was Needling in BP6, B60, VB34, PC6, VG24. A significant result was observed in the improvement of pain in patients with fibromyalgia after an acupuncture session, as well as in the total number of sessions. New studies are feasible in order to better evaluate and compare the suggested protocol.
