Abstract
With the increasing population, the demand for electricity has also grown, prompting several countries to explore various technological solutions for energy generation. The energy sector has gained prominence with the inclusion of renewable energy sources in the global energy mix. This paper examines a controversial alternative: the energy recovery from municipal solid waste. The methodology used was qualitative, based on a review of the available literature. The data analysis is presented descriptively. As for the results, Waste to Energy (WtE) emerges as a promising alternative for waste management, despite the environmental challenges that still need attention.
