Abstract

Mass incarceration is a global reality, but the women's prison system receives little attention despite specific needs and challenges. Brazil stands out as one of the countries with the highest number of women prisoners, reflecting the failures of the government system that, despite there being specific public policies and legislation for this purpose, do not do so, resulting in acts and violations of human rights.
