The Impacts Caused by Floods in the State of Rio Grande do Sul in Artisan Fishing in the Lagoa dos Patos Estuary Márcia Villar Franco

Abstract

 This article analyzes the impacts caused by floods in the State of Rio Grande do Sul on artisanal fishing in the Lagoa dos Patos Estuary. In this context, the study was carried out through descriptive research with a documentary and bibliographic analysis method based on the Long-Term Ecological Research in the Lagoa dos Patos Estuary and Adjacent Marine Coast, carried out by the Federal University of Rio Grande, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and Federal University of Rio Grande. Despite the scarcity of data collection, it is possible to identify changes in biodiversity and local artisanal fishing, with the risk of creating food insecurity in the local fishing community.
