Abstract

The article aims to analyze information about the electricity consumption of a supermarket chain to assess the feasibility of migrating from the regulated market to the free electricity market. The free electricity market, or Free Contracting Environment (ACL), is the setting in which consumers can freely choose their energy suppliers, which is often referred to as having the right to portability of their electricity bill. In this environment, it is possible to achieve significant reductions in electricity bills compared to the amounts paid in the regulated market, where energy is contracted directly from distribution companies. The regulated market is the traditional option for most consumers and is limited to purchasing electricity in the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR). This involves exclusive and compulsory contracting of energy from the distributor in their region. The rates for energy consumption are set by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and cannot be negotiated. All residential consumers fall into this market, as well as the vast majority of businesses, small industries, and rural consumers.
