Abstract

 The study investigates the relationship between the Right to Development, Sustainable Development Goal 12 of the 2030 Agenda, and Earth Overshoot Day, focusing on sustainability. The aim is to analyze and highlight the correlation between Earth Overshoot Day and Goal 12 of with the Right to Development. This is a qualitative study conducted through literature review and analysis of governmental and international documents. The results show that the Right to Development, among its functions, should integrate economic growth, social justice, and environmental protection. However, Brazil faces challenges in meeting the targets of Goal 12. Despite some progress, many targets lack indicators or show insufficient progress. Earth Overshoot Day demonstrates the pressure on natural resources. It is concluded that integrated public policies are essential to align development, economic growth, and sustainability, ensuring a balanced and sustainable future.
