Spatial Analysis of Natural and Anthropogenic Transformations in the Tietê Ecological Park (1985–2024) using Geoprocessing Tools

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of the Tietê Ecological Park area in the years 1985 and 2024, based on satellite images from the temporal series obtained through the MapBiomas 10 Platform. For this purpose, the polygon, 500-meter zoom, and coverage filters (natural and anthropic use) were applied to identify and differentiate land use and land cover classes. The investigation identified landscape changes and verified that, although the surroundings of the park have undergone intense anthropization, its vegetation area has remained preserved, demonstrating the park’s role as an ecological buffer zone against the advance of anthropic areas in the metropolitan region of São Paulo
