Abstract
This article reflects on an Italian immigrant elite in the city of Monte Alto, São Paulo, during the First Republic. To this end, it discusses the political dynamics of these elites in the interior of São Paulo state during this period and presents an analysis of evidence of these immigrants' economic and political protagonism, based on a cross-referencing of data from two sources: the list of Italian businesses in the 1915 Almanak Laemmert and a 1912 electoral list for the city. The article's relevance lies in the gaps in the literature on Italian immigration, portraying immigrants as elite, business owners, and voters—a gap even more pronounced when considering the municipality of Monte Alto
