New Record of the Green Mussel Perna viridis in the Central Coast Environmental Protection Area, Southern São Paulo State, Brazil

Abstract

Filter-feeding species with high reproductive potential, such as Perna viridis, can rapidly colonize aquatic environments, altering the structure and function of native ecosystems. This study reports the occurrence of this invasive species on the southern coast of São Paulo State, Brazil.
