Does functional diversity respond differently than taxonomic diversity? A review on ichthyofauna and the impacts of hydropower plants
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study reviewed literature published between 2015-2025 to determine whether functional diversity in fish assemblages responds differently than taxonomic diversity to hydropower impacts. Seven studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Functional diversity showed faster responses to environmental changes, whereas taxonomic diversity remained stable or increased. Comprehensive assessments should combine taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic indices to capture shifts in assemblage composition, ecological roles, and evolutionary diversity
