INTERFERENCE OF MEDICINES USED IN LABORATORY TESTS FOR MONITORING DYSLIPIDEMIA AND DIABETES MELLITUS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This is a literature review in order to warn about the interference of drugs on the results of laboratory tests, highlighting the main drugs that can alter the concentration of markers for diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. Parameters used to monitor these diseases were analyzed: frutosamine, glucose, glucagon, glycated hemoglobin, insulin, peptide C, TOTG, for diabetes mellitus; and total cholesterol, triglycerides, lipoprotein electrophoresis, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and VLDL-cholesterol, for dyslipidemia. For each marker, drug interference was systematized using tables. It is extremely important that the pharmacist works in clinical laboratories or pharmacies know how to recognize the possible interferences that the drugs can cause in laboratory tests.
