Abstract

The study had the purpose to identify and analyze the legislation and scientific publications dealing with the pharmaceutical care in the Unified Health System (SUS) with the pharmacist as manager of this process; describe the pharmacist's role in pharmaceutical care since the establishment until today. They were identified among various laws Ordinances, resolutions and laws, as well as scientific publications. It was not possible to evidence in the study in the legislation, the effective participation and recognized the pharmacist, the legislation made clear and substantiated the importance of the drug as a product for the promotion, protection and recovery of health and physical activity as a tool to ensure quality and access this product, but they do not recognize, so precise and clear, who is the skilled professional and legally able to work with this tool. On the other hand, authors acknowledge that the pharmacist's inclusion in the SUS is a strategy to link the pharmacist with other health professionals and service users, as well as his role in intervention measures in prevention and health promotion related to the drug.
