Abstract

Early detection and treatment of CVD are crucial for long-term patient health and survival. Despite advances, the prevalence of CVD continues to increase worldwide as the global population ages. In this study, we investigated the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and visceral obesity, measured by waist circumference, in a real-world sample of patients selected in cardiology offices. An observational, cross-sectional study was carried out, where 2,745 adult patients of both sexes were evaluated, selected from private cardiology practices distributed in the city of São Paulo. The frequency of sedentary lifestyle in the total sample was 72% and the distribution of visceral obesity, measured by waist circumference, between men and women, was 52.2% and 61.4%, respectively.
