Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an independent risk factor for CV disease. Diabetics have a 2 times higher risk of developing atherosclerosis and its manifestations – coronary artery, cerebrovascular and peripheral obstructive disease. A multifactorial intervention in the treatment of DM, combined with lifestyle corrections, can positively influence the reduction of the main clinical outcomes in diabetic patients.
