Experiences, Challenges, and Suggestions for Brazilian Sports

Abstract
This report presents the professional journey of a swimming coach and university professor who transformed a near‑drowning incident during adolescence into a lifelong commitment to aquatic sports. It describes his academic background, his work in high‑performance training, his participation in three Olympic Games, and the national and international achievements obtained with Brazilian athletes. The author discusses the challenges faced by physical education professionals in Brazil, particularly regarding the increasing recognition of wellness and preventive health practices. The narrative includes significant Olympic experiences and highlights the role of multidisciplinary collaboration in athletic success. The report concludes with proposals for improving Brazilian sports development through technical training, evidence‑based methodologies, national training centers, and broader access to sports participation.
